Our team had the opportunity to present to a group of nearly 200 future educators at Kansas State University! Our presentation was entitled "The Spirit of Teaching" where our team was able to share what we felt are the four main pillars that make a resilient educator.

MNU’s School of Education welcomed the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year team to campus this week, for an inspiring, interactive presentation to 56 teacher education majors. The team provided an engaging workshop revolving around a creative theme inspired by the popular TV show “FRIENDS.” Read more at the MNU website!
Throughout the presentation, the educators involved the students in activities that allowed them to practice these skills in real time, making the session practical and applicable.

Washburn's School of Education welcomed the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year team to campus this week, for an inspiring, interactive presentation. The team provided an engaging workshop revolving around a creative theme inspired by the popular TV show “FRIENDS.”

Feburary 4 , 2025| Kansas State University
The University of Kansas teaching program welcomed the Kansas Teacher of the Year team, to give a presentation to young adults wanting to become teachers. The students were all very kind and asked great questions about the teaching profession. The future teachers seemed to be excited to meet teachers who are out in the classrooms and are not people they see every day.

Today, the team is doing two stops. Our first was at the beautifully hidden gem in Kansas, Sterling College. The team started the presentation at 8:30 am. We were impressed with the number of students who got up early to see us present in the morning. Students asked great questions at the end about things they wonder about education

Our second stop of the day took us to HCC. The team spoke to students in education classes. Students here were very respectful and excited to see us. Our message of the importance of being a teacher was well received.

This week has been one for the books as we travel all across the state. Our first stop of the day took us to GCC. The team spoke to students in elementary education classes. Students here were very respectful and excited to see us.

Our second stop of the day took us to DCCC. The team spoke to teachers to help remind them and reinspire them to continue teaching. The teachers also shared about things they do in their classes so we can try them in our classrooms. The team had a great time sharing different strategies and things we do to help each other out and learning from other teachers as well.
March 5, 2025| Atchison, KS
The KTOY went to the beautiful campus of Benedictine College. The college sits on a bluff overlooking the beautiful Kansas landscape. The team presented to around 50 students. The audience was comprised mostly of student teachers, they were able to share the experiences they have come across during their time student teaching with the questions they asked at the end. Our team had a great time here; everyone was friendly and respectful.
March 10, 2025| Hays, KS
The KTOY drove to Hays, Kansas. The students there packed the room and seemed eager to listen to what the team had to say. The team spoke to a variety of students who are enrolled in different levels of the education field. Speaking at 9 am, a light breakfast was served for both students and the team. One thing which stood out was when a student needed to go to their class, they respectfully and quietly got up and left; the same was true for students who came into the presentation after it had started.

Today, we returned to Emporia State University to talk to their prospective teachers, in the very same room where we planned our 'revamped' presentation. It was a really cool learning space, and we felt so welcomed by both the staff and students that attended. We also got a chance to be a part of ESU's own education podcast, How We Teach This!

This was maybe one of our most unique audiences we had throughout this experience: not only did we get to meet the excellent students at McPherson Community College, we also got to see our own Maegen Stucky's 5th grade students in attendance! We even got to see them perform Maegen's infamous 'Grit Rap' in person!

We were absolutely blown away by Tabor College's education program! Their learning space for future educators was amazing, and set up just like a modern elementary classroom. The walls were decorated with student made anchor charts, and there was a lot of evidence of authentic learning everywhere. On top of that, the future teachers were all very welcoming and engaged!

It was so fun wrapping up our busy week at Friends University! Everyone was very insightful, and we loved to see all of the upcoming teachers teaching music or theater- Erik was in his happy place!

It was a great afternoon visit to see the education students of Baker.
Students were engaged and so much fun to talk to. At the end the students had great questions about life as an educator.

This was our first stop of the day. It was Early in the morning not so much for us teachers but for college students. Surprisingly, we had a great turnout of about 40 students. These students are looking to go into primary and secondary education.

Our second stop of the day was at KCKCC. Women in History Month is currently going on and the college has asked us to present something a little different. We talked about women who have made a difference in our lives and why we wanted to become teachers. Then we shared some of our regular presentation, talking about why teaching is a fun, important, and rewarding career. The team spoke to about 40 people at this event. It was fun to stop and remember the impact different women have made in our lives.

April 14, 2025| Lindsborg, KS and Newton Ks
A double-header day. KTOY presented to 2 colleges about 45 minutes from each other. The morning presentation had a great showing of students, and they asked great questions. The team was missing Erik as he had a music concert to prepare for his students. We still managed to keep it exciting and interesting for students.
The second stop for the day was equally as fun as the first. The students are so polite and fun. As a team, we could see they will be great teachers. and are ready to join us in the workforce.
April 15, 2025| Wichita State University, Wichita, Ks
Before the team presented at WSU, we went to see Erik and his band perform at the competition. This was very exciting to see, and the band scored a rating of 1 for site reading.
After the concert, WSU catered a great lunch and gave us a campus tour. That evening, we presented to the students who are currently student teaching. We shared with them, it's not a scary profession but a fun and honorable one. The preservice teachers asked us some great questions about things that have happened or could happen.
April 22, 2025| Cowley College, Arkansas City, Ks
This little gem of a school is located almost outside the state of Kansas, but do not let its distance fool you. Cowley College was a great visit. Students and staff are very respectful and fun to be around. This college visit was a lot of fun.
